St. Kilda

The city’s advantageous locale by the sea makes the beach yet another popular activity both day and night. In St. Kilda, visitors can tour Luna Park, a century-old amusement park, or stroll the St. Kilda Pier, which is popular for fishing and taking in the fresh air.  A visit here would not be complete without a nice walk along the St. Kilda Esplanade, which on Sundays features a treasure-trove-like Sunday market. This neighborhood isn’t just a place for sunbathing, people watching and clubbing, though. The more refined tourist will appreciate the Jewish Museum of Australia, which depicts the history of the country’s Jewish population, and will equally enjoy the St. Kilda Botanical Gardens, a tranquil place to rest tired feet.
